Scars

Little child in the corner you cry

Dreading when father comes home

Mother can’t help you, you’re living a lie

You know you’ll be all alone

He will shout, He will hurt, He will yell

He will punch you til you bleed

Yet you are denied by all you tell

How can no one notice such horrible deeds?

10 years have gone quickly past

Yet these memories have failed to leave

These scars are always going to last

Happiness is all you want to achieve

Red ink write on your canvas skin so pale

You consider giving up it all.

Each line you write leaving a bloody trail

Your knife is what you use to draw

Sometimes all you can do is scream

Let it all out, let someone know

Every horrid thought and dream

Sometimes you wish you could stop this show

One day someone will understand

One day you will speak your mind

Tell them all that happened at your father’s hand

Then you will be able to leave the memories behind.

Star: It is good to know that people are protesting against this.
Star: Very powerful, very well written.
Wish: “all” and “draw” do not rhyme.

star: the poem is strong and very persuasive
star: the poem had good use of the bolding
Wish: for me the meaning of the song is harder to find and it’s a little depressing
